Pongal 2013

This is the first time I am celebrating Pongal with Svadhi in our home. I still remember fondly how my grandmother used to celebrate this festival. It’s a thanksgiving day celebrated in South India at the end of the harvest season. I find so much meaning in this festival. I believe in giving thanks in whatever forms for all that we have. I decided to keep this festival as our family tradition every year. Sensing my excitement, Svadhi geared up for the day by waking up very early. She enjoyed every bit of the day, from the preparation, dressing up for the occasion right up to the tasting of the sweet rice. It was an auspicious day.
