When we first moved in to our apartment, I was elated at the fact that we were staying in a unit that directly faces the swimming pool. I reckoned it’d be a perfect opportunity for Svadhi to learn swimming. At first she was consumed with fear. All she did was stand at the edge of the pool and watch others swim and refused to get into the water. It took some time before she slowly transitioned into the shallow end of the pool where she was contented with splashing water and people-watch. Slowly, she trusted her float and ventured into the deeper end of the pool. It’s amazing how far she has come now. She can swim (with her float on) pretty fast across the pool now. She has overcame her fear and now a more confident child in the pool.
