Rebellion

She said I and Aashvi are good. She is naughty. I was shocked. I didn’t realize I was labeling her naughty each time she misbehaves or throws a tantrum. And in the process I have undermined her confidence and led her to believe that she is naughty.

I grew up as a rebellion child. I remember being labeled as naughty and problematic by my well-meaning mother. Over the years I’ve come to adopt a subconscious belief that I am not worthy of a sweet embrace from my mother because I am naughty and caused her a lot of trouble and pain. It takes me great courage to acknowledge my feelings.

I can’t protect my children from hurt and disappointments. All I can do is to equip them with the skills to cope with the daily challenges that the world will inevitably throw at them.
